(More customer reviews)Greetings. I ordered these for my Trek mountain bike. Regarding the fenders... as the other reviewer said, they do not fit. Holding them up, I guess they would fit the curve of the wheel, but they are impossible to mount, both the front and the back. The 'clip' is only about as big around as a quarter, very tiny. This may fit a 'road' bike or a fixie, but was nowhere near even clipping on my bike. You wouldn't even be able to force it, it would just break. Also, the front hardware just doesn't work, I have no idea how I would even put it on my bike. I consider myself fairly bright, and the instructions were vague, just 4 tiny pictures of what to do.
My bike is a standard size and shape of mountain bike (26"). At least in the description should be a warning that these are only for 'road' type bikes. This does not fit Mountain bikes OR bikes in the size range listed. On top of that, these aren't actually 'clip' on fenders, they are permanent mount, it 'clips' on permanently.
Regarding Niagara Cycle, they won't refund for a return unless the item is unopened. How would you know if it fit without opening the package, which is really just a bag of screws attached to two fenders that are zip tied together. They were both unfriendly and unwilling to facilitate a refund or exchange for another item. They wanted me to pay for return shipping and also not refund shipping both ways. This total cost would be double what the fenders even cost, meaning if it doesn't fit, you are out of luck.
Bottom line, don't buy these. Poor product, poor description, and poor customer service from Niagara cycle.

Schwinn Network 7 Men's Hybrid Bike (700C Wheels) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a great hybrid bike. It's light and fast like a good road bike, and has great tires and gears for rougher terrain. It is a very dark green( the photo makes it look black). It was very easy to assemble, though Schwinn left out the quick release mech for the front tire. They did send it to me quickly though, once I called them up.
I had been riding mountain bikes all my life, so this hybrid was a change for me, and I 'm glad to say that I prefer the hybrid, it's much better for getting around in city areas.There are shocks in the fork and seat that make for a very comfortable ride. The slim body and tires make fast speeds possible without much effort. The rear rack is great for carrying books and bags, if you attach a sack or net. The handle grips are very comfortable, smooth with just enough grip, not too textured like some other bikes.
I use it to commute to work and on bike trails near a local river, where the nicely gripped tires come in handy.
Some useful additions I purchased were a Schwinn thrasher helmet; does the job and looks good for only $25, a bell xenon light set; very bright and gives a lot of light for night time riding, a Schwinn frame pump; great for inflating tires on the go and attaches to the frame, and an adjustable bell water cage; it can hold any size beverage.
I would definitely recommend this bike.
I plan to take some photos and upload them soon as there is only one picture so far.

Schwinn Crest Urban Men's Hybrid Bike (700c Wheels) Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this Schwinn partly because they seem to have maintained a long-standing reputation for quality and also because I loved mine when I was younger. I primarily wanted a relatively lightweight , solidly built frame and this bike has it. The 700c wheels seems rather popular for hybrid bikes and have been well -received by many commuters. This wheel does not have nearly as much drag as a mtb tire and more protection and gripping power than a thin road bike tire.
The bike comes nearly fully assembled and is well packaged, inside an inner and outer protective carton. Setting up the handlebars, pedals and seat were a snap.
The whole process took about 15 minutes.
The frame is painted a very nice black (So I'm told, It actually looks dark green to my eyes), though it isn't the same frame seen in the product photo (The down tube is much thicker on the bike I received). The saddle is very, very comfortable and the adjustable sprung aluminum stem is a nice bonus, accommodating a variety of preferred sitting/riding styles.
Braking is very even and responsive with little fade. The bike feels well balanced while maneuvering and provides very forgiving handling characteristics. The front suspension fork is lightweight and mostly responsive on the rebound. IMO, it needs a bit more pressure but I've yet to get to it. I'd recommend experimenting with the proper pressure based on your weight and riding style.
The cables are well protected and insulated from the frame to avoid scratches. The fenders and baskets are easily removed, should you choose to do so (I did. It took about 12 minutes because you need to remove the rear tire to get at a screw for the rear fender). Adding a quick release hub to the rear tire (the front tire already has one) would be an inexpensive and highly useful tool, IMO.
I'm about average height and weight (5'7"@ 165lbs) and I can ride for hours without discomfort on the stock saddle. Shifting is easy and smooth and the system never skipped a gear, even when pedaling uphill and changing gears.
I recently compared this model to a few local bike shop products that cost $200+ more than the Schwinn. The overall workmanship/fit and finish of the Schwinn holds up well compared to the popular models I saw.
The bike is equipped with bike shop quality components, albeit not the high end, that will generally perform quite well.
After checking out several department store bikes from Walmart and Target, I'd definitely recommend staying away from the lesser quality bikes commonly sold in department stores. With few exceptions they tend to have cheaper, heavier frames and poor quality components and poor fit and finish in the assembly.
Comparing frames among several bikes (including this one) ranging in price from ~$300 to ~$900 yielded components of Chinese manufacture with finish of the welds, weight and general construction approximately equal.
I'm not suggesting the Schwinn Crrest is better than a well build bike shop bicycle like a mid-grade Giant, Trek or Santa Cruz, but the latter could set you back anywhere from $600 to $2000, easily.
I am suggesting that, this bike is comparable, for the average, casual road or paved trail rider, to much more expensive bikes I've looked at and ridden.

Schwinn Men's Prelude Bicycle (BBWhite) Review

(More customer reviews)First of all I consider myself a serious commuter rider. I ride 3000 miles a year, have for two years, on and off for 35 years. I've had Schwinns, Gitanes, and Motobecanes. I hit a pothole, ended up in the hospital and destroyed my 35 year old Motobecane a few weeks ago. My bike is my only means of transportation, so replacing it was a must. I'm not a weekend racer or casual rider. I'm 6'6", 240 pounds, and an engineer. I need my bike tough, fast, and with a really high high gear. I'm not interested in some overpriced bike to impress my weekend bike warrior friends. I don't run around in spandex. What I like: The balance is good, light as a feather, the padded tape handle bars are wonderful, the gearing is great, the shifters that actually go right to the desired gears are heavenly, the brake calipers do a great job of centering on the tires. I like the quick release front hub with self centering fork depressions. Quick release seat height is a plus. The paint looks durable. The handles hold a end of bar mirror nicely. The bike rides great and I rapidly got used to it's balance. Before I mention the negatives, I am pleased with the bike, it's a pleasure to ride and would definitely buy it again. I got it for $249 at a big box sporting goods store. What I don't like: I would love to be able to raise the handlebar stem a few inches, and have the frame larger for my size. I immediately replaced the skinny fits in your crack seat, with a wide memory foam one from Bell for my ample rear. I took off the peddle baskets, hate them things, which lost me two peddle reflectors. They have wrapped the brake lines under the handlebar tape and taped almost to the stem making it really tough to cludge solutions to mount the lights, reflectors, and speed computer. I made putty epoxy forms to get the computer to fit the handlebar center shaft. My Motobecane had brake handles that went both down the front and in toward the stem of the handlebars so you could brake in both hand positions. You have to be in the lower position to brake on the Prelude, loosing precious milliseconds in an emergency. I am at the upper limit of the seat post to fit me. The 700c 23mm 'tires' are weak for going across rough terrain, I go over 34 railroad tracks on the way to work. Blew both tires first week going too fast from pinch punctures. The rear wheel is a pain to remove and especially to reinstall. The rims are really solid, but they are that hollow extruded aluminum design. They put a chinsy rubber strip over the spoke holes and the tire pressure (100 PSI min) caused it to burst puncturing two inner tubes within a two weeks (while it sat in the Sun). I filled the depressions with hard high temperature red silicone rubber and taped over them with 3/4" fiberglass electrical tape. It seems to be holding well now. Schwinn should have done that in design. They are sending me a bike computer as an apology for my troubles, hey they listen, got to credit them for that. By the way Schwinn's 700c 25-32mm self sealing inner tubes are too long to fit in the tire, and fold up inside on inflation. The self sealing stuff doesn't work at this pressure just makes a mess. Schrader valve narrow 700c inner tubes are really hard to find, get a stock early, I'm going to Presta valves because it's all I can find in torn proof inner tubes. The cheap thin tubes are supposed to flex better and make you ride faster. My bike weights 26# I weigh 240, excuse me, all you need to do is get some muscle child and it won't slow you down. After all the tire flexes in and out, pushes in hard pushes out hard, so it's negligible unless you wear spandex and have to ride in packs. Bottom line it does what I need for a reasonable price. All of the problems have been simple fixes. Most of you are not my size and won't put the bike through what I do. I love the thing, plus it looks hot. I spend $300/year on bike repairs, I was spending $450/month to keep a car on the road. My cholesterol dived, my BP is great, and my sleep apnea is in remission since riding daily.

A;I am 50yrs old and have had many bikes.I love to ride,but I am not some spandex wearing hard core. I have shopped around(alot)and just got this bike today.5/31/11. Assembly was easy but you are going to need some tools.Mostly allen wrenches.(metric)You are going to want to tweak it for your needs anyways.It is way cooler looking than the photo.The top and lower bars are angular metal and look tough.It is a nice ride!Glides down the road.I am 5'9" and it is a nice fit.I could see anyone from 5'5"to 6'5" being able to tweak this to their needs.I had never seen this bike except for this one photo online.I took a leap of faith and bought it.I would do it again tomorrow.It looks more like a 4-$500 bike.My neighbor who rides $1200 Cannondale was quite impressed.This is not a trail bike!But a road bike that will handle any dirt road or 2 track.Great deal for the money!And VERY cool looking!

Men's Magna Glacier Point Mountain Bike - 26" Review

I needed a bicycle to get me from my apartment to campus, and to tool around on on the weekend and the occasion fifteen mile ride. I've been very pleased with the bike so far. It is light and its ride is comfortable enough. It is fairly quick for being a mountain bike, but I wouldn't venture out on overly rough trails with it. I've had some problems with the derailers not shifting the front gears correctly, but my opinion is that the defect is product of shoddy assembly at the store I got it from, but it is easy enough to fix. The brakes aren't the best, but odds are the bike can't go fast enough to the point that this would be a serious health hazard. The tires are sturdy, and I've taken on six inch curbs with no damage to the bike or the tires. For seventy dollars the performance can't be beat, and I can say I have been very pleased with its performance. The furthest I have ever been out in one ride was fifteen miles, and it held up just fine.

I biked 1/2 way up my super steep hill with no problem. The set up wasn't too hard. I have never worked on a bike before and with a few tools I was able to but on the front tire, pedals and handle bars. The seat is very comfortable. It was hard to decide on a bike online, but this is definately the right choice.

This bike had good reviews on some mountain bike review sites and it looks like it is a very solid bike, especially for the price range. It is not top of the line, but you are paying a bargain price for mid-level components on a decent aluminum frame.

Stand-over Height--To find out if a bike's overall height fits your body, measure your inseam. Next, determine how much clearance you'll need between your crotch and the top tube of the bike. For a mountain bike, you'll want three to five inches of clearance. A road bike should offer between one and two inches of clearance, while a commuter bike should have two to four inches. Compare the stand-over height for a given bike to your measurements (inseam + clearance) to determine the right bike height.
Top Tube Length--You can measure your torso to get a good estimate of proper top tube length. First, make a fist and extend your arm. Measure from the center of your fist to the end of your collarbone (the part that intersects your shoulder). Next, measure your torso by placing a book against your crotch with the spine facing up. Measure from the spine to the bottom of your throat (the spot between your collarbones). Finally, add the two measurements (arm length + torso length), divide the number in half, and subtract six inches. This is your approximate top tube length. Compare this number to a bike's posted top tube length. You can allow for about two inches longer or shorter, as most bikes can be adjusted via stem length/height and saddle fore/aft position to make fine adjustments to the fit.
Bikes for Women--Proportionally, women tend to have a shorter torso and longer legs than men. Bike makers design women's bikes that offer a shorter top tube and many comfort/cruiser bikes built for women may also provide more stand-over clearance.

I had a BMX that was stolen so I decided to purchase this hybrid based on the brand and price. There were no reviews online for this bike to help influence me before I purchased it, that's why I'm submitting my first review. I watched a few videos online on how to assemble a road ride, which was helpful. Assembling the bike was easy, front wheel, handle bar, pedals and seat. Next, I pumped the tires to their correct air pressure and adjusted the seat for a comfortable fit. After that there was nothing else to do other than to give it a test ride. The gears and the brakes were easy to use and they needed no adjustments. The bike is very quite when pedaling. It is light weight and nice to ride. I've owned this Schwinn Volare S5460 for about a month now and so far so good. I purchased a gel seat cover because the seat was paining the nerves out my @ss. The only thing about the gel seat cover is that I don't really like how it looks over the seat. I'm thinking about getting a narrow road bike seat that heard is as comfortable. It's a good looking bike; I like the frame, wheels and the colors. The frame is 18" and the wheels are 700c(very slim). I bought a blue and white multi-sport helmet to match the bike's paint job. I'm 5'7" and the bike fits me good. If you're over 6 feet then you'll need a bigger frame. Four things I recommend you get if you're going to purchase this bike, a comfortable seat, a helmet, a pump w/ an air pressure gauge and a high security lock. I"ll post some pictures.

The pedals are plastic and need to be upgraded but overall a nice purchase. It comes about 90% assembled; you need to mount the quick release front tire, seat, handle bars and attach the brake cables; it took about 20 minutes. There are instructions in the owners manual and the tools needed to put it together.

It's a nice (fast!) commute bike, best for roads (but it's fun to drift around on dirt), and it has good, quality parts. I haven't yet gotten the derailleur set correctly, but for the most part I don't care and I'm too busy. It hit the good-enough point and I'm content.
Coming off of a cheap WalMart mountain bike, this thing is heaven. If anybody's looking for a step up from a basic ride-it-sometimes bike, this one is nice. If you're still only going to ride it sometimes, then why bother?
It's a little heavy to be called a road bike, which is probably why it's not, and I'm still wondering why exactly there needs to be a suspension (which must have added a fair share of useless weight). Also, the handlebar isn't as adjustable as most would like, and if you're 6' tall and one of those people who likes their legs to be fully extended when pedaling, it might not be possible on this bike.

(More customer reviews)People who know about bikes know that the Schwinn Sumac is not a department store bike. In fact, this bike is identical to the Schwinn Mesa GSD except for the paint colors. The Schwinn Sumac is a A-list bike with premium components, again all identical to a bike whose price is more than triple that of the Sumac. Check for yourself at BikePedia.com. Every component and part number match up exactly.
This bike comes completely set up right out of the box - and packaged very well, by the way. Install the front wheel, handlebars and pedals and that's pretty much it. The front and rear disc brakes are already adjusted. The front and rear derailleurs are perfectly in sync. Ride the bike and feel the fine-tuned ride this bike provides.
The shifters are absolutely top-notch. A flick of the thumb and the derailleurs snap into gear; no slipping, no grinding - it's one satisfying click. The disc brakes are such a nice touch, and work so well. I defy anyone to find a bike with front and rear discs anywhere near this price. Good luck.
One word of caution: this bike only comes in medium frame size, intended for riders 5'6" to 5'10". They're not kidding. I'm 5'10" and I fill this frame up to the max. The seat post is almost all the way up and I can just barely extend my leg. Keep this in mind before deciding on this one. But if you're in that height range, there is no better choice.

(More customer reviews)Pretty good bike for what your paying. The shock absorber in the front of the bike doesnt really absorb shock too well but it works. Assembly was really easy although the manual that came with it was a joke (It was a multiple bike manual and the other bike was a beach bike). Its sturdy, not too heavy, and after I finished calibrating the brakes and fine tuning the gear shifter, handles the mountain terrain pretty well. All in all, great bike but needs a little love from the get go to stand up to the competition.

(More customer reviews)As far as frame and shocks no complaints yet but I haven't had it for long took it on two trails and i have already noticed how cheap the parts on this bike are. On the second time I brought it on the trail the rear derailleur hanger has already snapped the pedal broke and both rims are bent. Lastly the front brakes have never stopped like I want them to no matter how much adjusting I do. Other than those no complaints though love the frame n adjustable suspension so I can tighten up for those street rides. Actually rides like a hardtail kinda. But after a few upgrades I think it will be the perfect bike for me anyway. If your thinking about getting one do it don't listen to my complaints because u can upgrade these cheap parts for reasonable prices depending on how extreme u are haha. I just ride to hard for those cheap parts own good

Pacific Chromium Men's Dual Suspension Mountain Bike (26-Inch Wheels) Review

(More customer reviews)Like one of the previous reviewers, I, too, had issues with the handlebars; except even the handlebars were installed backwards. I'm a mechanically-inclined individual, but am still pretty new at putting bikes together. This lead to me having issues with the cheap screws (that are prone to stripping) on the derailleurs.
On the plus-side, the manual is relatively comprehensive, although is jam-packed of information for EVERY bike that Pacific makes.
As far as the ride goes, I don't completely have the brakes or shifters adjusted, so I won't speak to their quality (although they weren't completely terrible), but the bike seat is a bit hard. The bike is also almost too big for me (I'm 5'3"), so short people should probably look elsewhere. You'll want to adjust the rear shock's spring depending on your weight, as the stock setting had no give at all for me.
The packaging from the manufacturer was lacking. I'm lucky that my FedEx driver isn't very abusive to packages, but people that are less fortunate could definitely have problems. The bike arrives with the front end disassembled (which is standard), and is secured to itself with zip ties and absolutely zero foam/paper/etc to hold it in place. There is cardboard wrapped around certain areas of the bike to dull hard points, but this obviously won't save it from any kind of drop.
