(More customer reviews)I have this derailleur on four different bikes and I have had no problems whatsoever. I use a long cage when running 3 chainrings and a mid cage with one or two chainrings. Once you set it up and adjust it....you're done. Very minimal maintenance, durable, and consistent shifting.

Diamondback Octane Jr Girls' Mountain Bike (20-Inch Wheels) Review

(More customer reviews)This is a very nice bike, packed nicely, was put together easily, I wouldn't have known how to adjust the brakes, no directions, but my hubby did :). It's great quality, but no kickstand so I'll have to buy one. My 8 year old loves the color its a pearly-pink, she is 4'5" with a 24" inseam and this bike is great for her, the 24" bike would have overwhelmed her because biking has been a challenge to her and she just learned to ride with no training wheels, but the seat is raised about what it shows in the picture(more then halfway up the bar) it can still be raised up a bit but you may opt for the Octane 24" if your child is close to this size or any bigger(go by inseam). I'm hoping she gets a couple years out of it, but I plan to pass it down to my 4 year old when she's about 6, so its a great buy for me in the longrun anyway. Its a dream compared to the cheap toy store bike she learned on, the old bike was heavy and awkward and by the time she was comfortable handling it she was way too big for it, I wish I had bought her a quality bike to begin with and maybe she would have learned easier, I'm very pleased I bought this bike enstead of going back to the toystore for a cheap one. The alluminum frame makes it lightweight and easy to handle.

(More customer reviews)My son got it for his 7th birthday (he's fairly tall for 7) and he loves them!
They seem to be sturdy and fairly good quality.
I occasionally take a ride as well (5'10" 170 lbs) with no problem.
Size seems like it should feet a very small 6-7 years old all the way through 10-12.
Fairly light, good brakes and transmission (both Shimano).
Easy to assemble with included tools.

Pacific Exploit - Front Suspension Boy's/Men's Bike Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this bike for my son. I am an extremely experienced cyclist and bike mechanic, so the challenges I overcame with this weren't too serious for me. For example, the bike I received was missing a front axle nut. I replaced the entire axle with a hollow one and a quick release but you could imagine that kind of thing being a pain for a normal person. Some details weren't to my liking and I fixed them. I sawed off a bit off the seat post and a bit off the handlebar ends. This allows the seat post to be set as low as possible for my little rider. I'm no absurd hipster with the handlebar cutting, but having sensible shoulder width bars is always good and these were the normal too-big-for-an-adult mountain bike width. Definitely not ideal for a kid. The wheels were pretty true, but I still felt it necessary to true them up. One of the cable housing routings was about 20% too long and I cut that to the right size. Then it started to look like a bike I'd like to own if I was a kid. One minor problem is that the kickstand is really stiff. Could be worse. At least it's mounted well and it exists at all. On the other hand, the biggest problem with this bike for a young kid is that it is heavy. Very heavy. That frame and those forks are cheap by adding cheap metal. It's a strong bike, but it may be tough for a smaller kid to handle. My kid also had some trouble with the hand strength necessary to pull the brakes. Older kids probably will do fine.

(More customer reviews)This is a very smooth-riding bike with a look and feel of quality. Its frame is much lighter than a steel bike, making a noticeable improvement in performance. I often load my bike heavily using a rear rack and baskets, so I was specifically looking for a bike with front suspension only. Even with only the front suspension fork, it smooths out bumps nicely. Shifting is really smooth and reliable. It has quick-release front wheel and seat. My only criticism is the front wheel is positioned so that when turning sharply it hits one's feet! At first I repeatedly almost fell because of turning too sharply while pedaling and my feet hitting the tire. I am more used to it now and have learned to stop pedaling and watch my feet position while making sharp turns. But to me it is a silly design flaw. This is the only reason I gave this bike 4 stars instead of 5. Let me add, the process of ordering it through Amazon went perfectly. It came in a huge box. It needed minor assembly which was very easy.
