(More customer reviews)I had been searching Amazon for a replacement handlebar for my newly purchased "comfort bike", a Diamondback Wildwood Deluxe Men's Comfort Bike (26-Inch Wheels), when I came across this product.
One way to describe a comfort bike, might be as a hybrid between a mountain bike and a cruiser bike. That sounds like a weird combination, but it's essentially what a comfort bike is, and therein lies the problem for me. For while I found my bike to be comfortable overall, I didn't find the swept-back cruiser style handlebars to be so.
This XLC handlebar does the trick. It even has more rise than the stock bar, allowing for an even more upright riding position, if that's what you're looking for. It's considerably lighter than the stock bar, and the stock shifter/brake controls fit, even though it's a much tighter fit than with the original bar.
If considering this handlebar, you should know that it is not meant for aggressive off-roading, nor performing stunts of any kind. (There's a warning sticker to this effect on the bar.) I would call this product a "mountain bike style" handlebar, which of course is fine for my use.
On my first ride, I felt much more comfortable and in control of my bike. I was also able to climb hills with more ease, due to the fact that this handlebar can be positioned to allow for more leverage, unlike the stock bar.
The tube wall thickness is greater than with the steel bar that came with the bike, so you might want to purchase new end caps to go along with this handlebar. Also, if you use a Mirrycle MTB Bar End Mountain Bicycle Mirror, hopefully you've saved the smaller stem wedge, as you'll need that for the same reason.
I should mention that this is one of the few polished aluminum bars of it's kind offered on Amazon. That was important to me, as it matches the handlebar stem on the Diamondback Wildwood DLX.
