(More customer reviews)I've worked at twelve bike shops over the last ten years, and I've tried a lot of different lubes for commuting, road racing, mtb, touring, and bmx.
Compared to dry lubes like the finish line dry, this lube is much much smoother and longer lasting. Because this is a wet lube, it is more tenacious in bad weather, but the benefits of longer lasting lubrication are noticeable even in a drought.
compared to a dry lube, there is more build-up of grime on your drivetrain, even if you meticulously wipe down your chain after applying the lube. I've started wiping the excess oil off a few days after I lube the chain too.
But compared to the several dry lubes I've used, by the time I need to rewipe the dirty oil that has migrated to the outside of my chain from using this stuff, I would have to reapply the dry lube. i.e., the dry lubes leave my chain making an audible grinding noise after riding for a few days.
Ultimately whether you go wet, dry or wax, the ceramic microspheres seem to be much more durable than teflon/ptfe. I weigh about 200lbs and am muscular, so perhaps teflon works just as well for a lighter rider who applies less energy to the chain, causing the lubricant to break down less.
